They will be assessed throughout the year in a continuous assessment

The health crisis has caused a small school revolution in New Caledonia. For 2021, the two confinements have made young people miss two months of teaching. Distance learning, i.e. on the Internet, is not very effective. Many young people do not have a computer at home. In order not to penalise students, the Caledonian education authorities decided to abolish end-of-year exams. They will be replaced by continuous assessment. This concerns both general and technical education.

In reality, this reform was already in the air. It is already underway in France. The covid crisis has only accelerated things. It has several advantages. In particular, it avoids the lottery nature of an exam. It will increase the motivation of students throughout the year, as they will be assessed continuously.
