That bronze is the 46th french medal in the Tokyo Paralympic Games, the first for Pierre Fairbank in this competition, and his 9th medal throughout his career.

With a fifth ranking in the 100m and a sixth on final in the 400m, the New Caledonian paralympics athlete Pierre Fairbank has frequently been close to winning a medal on Japanese soil. IThis goal was achieved on Thursday September 2 with a third place in the 800m race, in the T53 category, at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

This is Pierre’s first medal at these games … and his 9th at the Paralympic Games throughout his career with three in Sydney, two in Athens, one in Beijing, two again in Rio and now one in Tokyo.

Born in 1971 in Hienghene, New Caldonia’s east coast, Pierre Fairbank began his sports career at the age of 15, completes his extraordinary collection of medals. This is also his third Olympic medal in the 800m. Pierre Fairbank thus concludes a unique career with a new and final medal.
