This is the second attack in a week

The attack occurred at 6:30 pm on Saturday 4 February, in the bay of Anse-Vata. At around 6.30pm, a person was attacked while practising wing-foil in the bay of Anse-Vata. The victim was not injured. Firefighters immediately evacuated the beach. A land and sea survey is currently being conducted. Following the attack, the city decided to ban swimming and water sports activities until further notice at several Noumea beaches. Last week, a swimmer was seriously injured by a four-metre shark on the beach of Château Royal in Noumea.
