A new demonstration was organised on Tuesday 7 February against the national pension reform. This time there was no march, but a sit-in organised in front of the high commission in the capital Papeete. The demonstrators refuse the reform of the government of the Republic which plans to push back the retirement age to 64 years.
It should be noted that in New Caledonia, this reform project has made little noise. It is true that in New Caledonia, the retirement age is currently 60. It will be 62 in 2026.
