The last update of the French Polynesia Health Department reveals that 3,511 cases of coronavirus have been identified since the flight services reopened on July 15. Almost 10% of theses cases (322 cases) have occured in the last 48 hours.
The authorities also announced two new deaths related to the pandemic. 53 people (including 9 in intensive care) are currently monitored in the Taaone hospital, on Tahiti island, and the Covid-19 outbreak rate is a major concern for local authorities.On October 12, French Polynesia president Édouard Fritch tested positive for Covid-19 on his return from France, where he met with President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Jean Castex and Overseas minister Sébastien Lecornu.Photo > The Taaone Hospital in Pirae, Tahiti Island.
