Following the discovery of the first local coronavirus cases in New Caledonia, which is no longer Covid-free, flights between New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna have been suspended.

They will be restored as soon as the health situation permits, the Wallis and Futuna prefect said.

65 passengers arrived to Mata-Utu, Wallis island, from Nouméa on August 30. The PCR tests carried a week after their arrival showed that they all came back negative to Covid-19.
