Eight members of the pro-independence Tavini political party flew to the capital of Azerbaijan on Monday evening. They were invited by the Baku Initiative Group, an organization created in 2023 to “fight against French colonialism”.
A four-day visit is scheduled, according to local propaganda media, to explore “cooperation opportunities” between Azerbaijan and the assembly of French Polynesia.
The visit is financed by the Azeri dictatorship. It took place at a time when questions were being raised about Azerbaijan’s involvement in the current riots in New Caledonia.
