French Polynesia president Édouard Fritch tested positive for Covid-19 on his return from France, where he met with President Emmanuel Macron, Prime Minister Jean Castex and Overseas minister Sébastien Lecornu.

Confinement
“The health of President Fritch is not a concern. He will be confined for seven days as recommended by the health authorities while continuing to manage the country,” Fritch’s office statement added.

10 deaths
The latest official figure showed French Polynesia had 2754 cases of Covid-19 since July 15, of which 633 were active. 20 persons are hospitalized (including 4 on intensive care) and a total of 10 people died of coronavirus consequences.
