Two hands were found in the shark’s abdomen

The shark that killed an Australian tourist on Sunday 19 February 2023 at Chateau Royal beach in Noumea is a 2.90 metre bulldog shark. It was captured on Tuesday 21 February. This information was announced by the public prosecutor. Experts found “two complete hands and a piece of swimwear that seems to match the victim’s body” in the shark’s abdomen. The investigations are not yet complete.
Two shark experts had estimated that the bites were those of a tiger shark of about four metres. The hypothesis of a simultaneous attack by a tiger and a bulldog has not been ruled out.
