An American shipwrecked man in a lifeboat was rescued by an oil tanker on Friday in the Pacific, 950 km east of the Marquesas Islands, several days after the search had been called off. It was found in the area monitored by French Polynesia.
Five merchant vessels and four pleasure craft had taken part in the search, which was called off on June 12. The shipwrecked man is safe. Aaron Carotta should be disembarked in Honolulu on June 25.
